Not all humbuckers are created equal, and Gibson’s BurstBucker Series proves it with its unique vintage character inspired by the legendary late-’50s “Patent Applied For” (PAF) pickups from the 1959 Les Paul Standard. Featuring unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, each BurstBucker captures the tonal variation of those early hand-wound originals, where workers wound the bobbins “until they were full,” typically around 5,000 turns. The BurstBucker 1 is slightly underwound for medium vintage output, delivering a warm, articulate tone that works beautifully in both neck and bridge positions. This model features zebra (black and cream) coils with no cover for a true classic look.
